About Us

The Fort St. John Women's Soccer Association (FSJWSA), formerly the Fort St. John Women's Soccer League, is run by volunteers from within the league and we do our best to make each season fun and safe for all.

We play two indoor seasons per year, known as the Fall/Winter Season and the Spring League. Games are played at the Kids Arena Fieldhouse, located at 9615 96th Avenue in Fort St. John, BC. New turf and netting was installed in the summer of 2020 and new glass boards were installed in 2024.

All skill and fitness levels are welcome. You can join with an existing team, with a friend, or as a solo player. If you don't sign up with a team, you will be assigned to one and your team captain will contact you before the start of the season. to set you up with a jersey. We currently use the TeamSnap application for registering and schedules.

The registrar accepts Fall/Winter League registrations twice in the season; once in early fall and once around the new year. Spring League opens for registration shortly after the year end tournament.

All players registered on a team in the FSJWSA must have attained her 16th birthday at the time of registration to play in the FSJWSA, with no special permission being given to underage players.

Our Motto:

Fun, Friends and Fitness!

We are also on Facebook as the Fort St. John Women's Soccer Association. Please join us there for the most up-to-date information.

Basic League Rules

If this is your first time playing indoor boarded soccer, there are a few distinctions from other leagues.

Players must wear clean indoor soccer/turf shoes or running shoes, shin pads, soccer socks and shorts without pockets or zippers. Goalies may choose to wear pants and must wear a jersey colour that distinguishes them from their teammates, the opposinsg team, and the referee. Teams must provide their own jerseys, which must be numbered. Occasionally, the FSJWSA has jersey sets to loan from the Spring League bins.

Visible jewelry is not permitted, nor are metal hair pins.

Slide tackling, slide blocking, and playing the ball while on the ground are prohibited in our league.

Alberta Soccer Association (ASA) rules and guidelines apply.

Only registered players and coaches are permitted on the bench and pitch, and this extends to breaks between games.

A word on referees:

All games will have one referee on the pitch, and sometimes a second referee in the box. Calls made by either referee are to be respected and not challenged. Any concerns with referee calls/actions can be forwarded to fsjwsl@gmail.com and will be addressed by the referee director.

Fall/Winter Season

The Fall/Winter season is the most popular league, running annually from October until March. There are normally two divisions (recreational and competitive) though when numbers dictate, the divisions are combined. Teams play twice a week, usually on Sundays, Mondays and/or Fridays. In addition to regular league games, there are two tournaments per year; the Season Opener Tournament and the Year-End Tournament, both with a social!

Teams in both divisions are always looking for new team players. All fitness and skill levels are welcome.

Spring League

Spring League is played once a week during April, May and June. Teams are made at random and combine players from both the recreational and competative divisions. This is a  short season and a great time to come see if soccer is for you!
